Download the cygwin version of the Inclinometer program,
1.5 Megabytes. The desktop short cut runs the bat file RunIncline.bat
which will start the cygwin X server, and then run the inclinometer
program InclineCygwin.exe. This bat file assumes that you took
all the default locations for installing the program and cygwin below.
If not, you will have to edit the bat file.
Run the install program that you download here,
installInclineCygwin.exe.
The program uses the US Digital A2T-S-S-D absolute encoder.

As our software is native X/Motif, an X server is needed.
On the Micrsoft Windows system, you must install cygwin, which you
can download from
www.Cygwin.com
You can take the
default download, but must in addition select components
to get cygwin/X:
Under X11 (near the bottom) select the
xinit and xorg_server packages (the listing is in alphabetical order),
libXm2 (run time), and libGLU1:X11 OpenGL libraries (utility runtime).
Under lib, select libglut3 (run time).
Below is a picture of the window where you select the packages. Click the
mouse on the little plus symbol inside the little box to open up each list.
Then scroll through the list (each is in alphabetical order) and select the
package to install. Select a package by clicking on the little circle with
the arrows.
Then simply continue on. In one of the earlier screens you can choose to download to a file if you have to install on a computer not connected to the internet. For more information go to www.Cygwin.com and on the left select the User's Guide, then under: 2. Setting Up Cygwin, select Download Source.
See the Cygwin/X page and in particular the instructions for downloading Cygwin/X from the Cygwin/X User's Guide for complete documentation.
If you are running the Inclinometer program with Exceed, you can download the Exceed version of the Inclinometer program.
We recommend you select to NOT show contents of Windows while moving
them so as not to cause a cascade of redraw events should you drag
any window across the application. On Windows XP go to Control Panel,
select "Display", then "Appearance", then "Effects", and unclick "Show window
contents while dragging".
On Vista select "Personalize Appearance and Sounds"
from the control panel, then at the bottom select
"Open classic appearance properties for more color options",
select "Appearnce" on "Appearance Settings", then select
"Effects" and toggle off "Show window contents while dragging".
